The public exhibition period for the Statement of Environmental Effects associated with the Chain Valley Colliery Modification 2 will run from the 15/7/15 to 6/8/15.

The modification is being sought to permit;
1. an increase in the maximum rate of ROM coal extraction at the mine from 1.5 Mtpa to 2.1 Mtpa;
2. mine design changes in the mine’s northern area;
3. an increase in full-time personnel from approximately 160 to approximately 220; and
4. minor vegetation clearing adjacent to infrastructure for the purpose of asset protection from bushfires.

There will be no increase in truck haulage activities (both on private or public roads) and all miniwall mining activities will remain beneath Lake Macquarie.

The Statement of Environmental Effects (SEE) will remain available online, available on the Planning and Environment website here: http://majorprojects.planning.nsw.gov.au/index.pl?action=view_job&job_id=7139

The SEE is also available on the Chain Valley website on the Project Applications & Modifications page.
